A bit about me…

“Physics isn’t the most important thing. Love is.”
Richard P. Feynman

And what would physics be without Love, eh?  Physics is one very important part of my life, but when I’m not engaged there I’m very pleased to be spending time with my family.  My wife, Emily, and I live just outside of Chicago, near Naperville Illinois, with our son, Gabe, and daughter, Gia. Illinois is beautiful almost any time of year (winter months included!) and we enjoy heading out to the many state parks for hiking and general merriment. Emily works out of our house as part of Annie’s Woolens, a small internet-based business primarily knitting beautiful and festive Christmas and Holiday stockings.

We’re blessed to have a loving extended family.  Emily’s two sisters, Molly and Kate, and Kate’s husband Mark, live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in Minnesota and we’re very fortunate to be able to see them regularly.  Emily’s parents, Mike and Anne (of Annie’s Woolens fame) live in beautiful Eagle River, Wisconsin, just a couple hours drive from Appleton.  I, originally of east coast roots, have family in New Jersey, my great Aunt Maureen, and parents (Jodie and Tony) and sister (Brianna) in inland and coastal Maine, respectively.  While we don’t get back to Maine nearly often enough we’re excited about Bri’s recent wedding to Mark Boutin!

As for me, when I have a little spare time I enjoy (very) amateur woodworking, usually in the never ending house maintenance quest, running (short, short distances to and from the couch), playing the beautiful game, and reading sci-fi novels.
